How to Install an eSIM on iPhone
Step-by-step iPhone instructions: install before you fly, then switch the line on when you land.
Updated 5 Aug 2026
Before you start
Install over Wi-Fi in the UAE, not after landing. You need your provider's QR code or installation link, and an iPhone that supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked.
Installing the profile
The steps are the same for a QR code and an in-app link.
- 1 — Open Settings, then Mobile Service (or Cellular).
- 2 — Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code — or open the provider's installation link.
- 3 — Scan the QR code sent by the provider and confirm the installation.
- 4 — Label the new line clearly, for example the destination name.
- 5 — Leave the new line turned OFF until you land.
After you land
Switch the travel line on and point your data at it.
- 1 — Settings › Mobile Service › select the travel eSIM › turn it on.
- 2 — Enable Data Roaming for the travel line only — this is required for travel eSIMs to connect.
- 3 — Set Mobile Data to the travel eSIM.
- 4 — Keep your UAE line on for calls and SMS, with its Data Roaming turned OFF.
If it does not connect
Toggle Airplane Mode on and off, confirm Data Roaming is enabled on the travel line, and check the provider's app for network selection instructions. Some plans require choosing a partner network manually the first time.
