eSIM compatible phones
Before buying a travel eSIM, confirm two things: your phone supports eSIM, and it is not locked to a carrier.
Quick device check
The fastest way to confirm compatibility on your own handset:
- iPhone — Settings › General › About. If you see an EID number, the device supports eSIM.
- Android — Dial *#06#. An EID shown alongside the IMEI means eSIM is supported.
- Carrier lock — iPhone: Settings › General › About › Carrier Lock should read 'No SIM restrictions'.
Commonly supported models
Apple: iPhone XS, XR and every model since, including all iPhone 14 and later units sold in the UAE. Samsung: Galaxy S20 series onward, Z Fold and Z Flip series, and most recent A-series flagships. Google: Pixel 3 and later. Also supported: Xiaomi 12T Pro and later flagships, Huawei P40 and Mate 40 series, Honor Magic series and Oppo Find X3 onward.
Models that will not work
Devices bought locked to an operator contract, older handsets without an EID, and most budget Android phones below the flagship tier. If your phone cannot take an eSIM, a local physical SIM at your destination airport remains the practical alternative.
